Synopsis
To find the truth, you must believe.
Six years after the events of The X-Files series finale, former FBI agent Doctor Dana Scully is now a staff physician at Our Lady of Sorrows, a Catholic hospital, and treating a boy named Christian who has Sandhoff disease, a terminal brain condition. FBI agent Drummy arrives to ask Scully’s help in locating Fox Mulder, the fugitive former head of the X-Files division, and says they will call off its manhunt for him if he will help investigate the disappearances of several women, including young FBI agent Monica Banan. Mulder and Scully are called back to duty by the FBI when a former priest claims to be receiving psychic visions pertaining to a kidnapped agent.

there’s literally a scene with a dramatic pan to a framed picture of george w bush and then the x files theme music plays and it’s the best thing i’ve ever seen in my life.
there’s also a scene where mulder and scully are in bed together and scully is staring at a book titled “beautiful WASPs having sex” and it made me start to wonder if this was a parody movie.

mulder and scully invented the concept of love and anyone who disagrees is simply wrong and should be ashamed of themselves. thank you for coming to my ted talk

this was pretty bad but i'm not going to give Dana Scully less than 5 stars. she could have stood in front of the camera breathing for 90 minutes and it'd still get 5 stars.

Scully, a medical doctor, researches treatments for her child patient by typing 'stem cell therapy' into google, copying & pasting the entire first page of results, printing them out, putting them in a file folder, and writing 'stem cell research' on the front.

walter skinner pulling out his first gen iphone and saying "maybe i can google it" is without a doubt the height of comedy and probably the only in character thing anyone did in this movie

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
so it turns out a psychic pedophile priest is having visions about one of his victims, now an adult gay man who's abducting and killing women to harvest their organs and keep his husband's severed head alive with the eventual intent of permanently attaching it to a woman's body. keep your homophobia out of my Mulder and Scully, thank you very much.

my favorite part was when scully googled how to do brain surgery

these two stars are for 1) mulder and scully spooning and 2) mulder and scully kissing

I want to believe:
A film based on one of the most iconic and successful SciFi series ever isn't this bland, uninspired and lazy.
Billy Connolly was pissing his pants laughing when he cashed in his cheque for this film.
Chris Carter suffered from a spontaneous, temporary attack of Lobotimus Interruptus when he conceived this.
This is not the swan song of one of my favourite series ever.

Any film that shows Mulder and Scully in bed together is a cinematic masterpiece.

Review by RobynSummer 3
The X-Files had two types of episodes. It had alien conspiracy episodes that continued the overarching plot of the show, and it had monster of the week episodes that were stand-alone stories. This film wants to be a stand-alone story, but it has several big problems. The first is that it takes place several years AFTER the show ended. I won't go into spoilers, but with how the show concluded (at the time), it doesn't make sense to try to do a monster of the week story that largely ignores what happened in the past. The other problem is this film is awful.
While it's nice to finally see Mulder and Scully kiss, their characters don't feel right here. Duchovny…
